I decided to try and schedule a date with our new sitters we found, Claire and Elise. They are only 14 and 15, so their hours are pretty limited. Plus, they both run track and do swimteam, so they are buys. We narrowed it down to a day date. I tried to think of what we could do in the day, and I thought the gun range. Not sure what I was thinking, but I knew I had wanted to try it, and I knew Eric did too. So, I set it up, told Eric about my "surprise" and got it scheduled. We were excited when the day came, really only because we got to get out of the house together! But by the time we got to the range, I was a nervous wreck. And by nervous wreck, I mean freezing, panicky, crying, wanting to run away, etc. I had no idea I would be such a scaredy cat. But it was all so overwhelming. So many people, all shooting guns, all close together and loud. It was a recipe for a Holly Disaster. But I stuck it out, and my husband thankfully, had tons of patience with me, and didn't force me. I finally calmed down and let it rip. I was ready to be done, but I shot all of my bullets, let Eric shoot some, and then we got out of there. It was a huge relief getting into the car. I am glad we did it, and it was great bonding time, and I want to do it again, but I need a bit of time. On a side note, on the way home we ran out of gas too. Had to call Russ to come bring us some gas. Totally embarrassing for a couple of 37 and 38 year old parents. hee hee
