School Starts!

I must have had a dream that I already blogged about school starting, because, obviously I didn't yet!  The girls were so excited! It was kind of a rough week because Payton started on Monday, Eleanor started on Tuesday, and then it was so hot, they cancelled school out early every day because there is no A/C.  Eleanor was a bit confused about what days she goes and for how long.  :)

Payton was ready to go bright and early on Monday!

She seems to like her class.  She came home the first day and told me she had good news and she had bad news.  I asked what the bad news was.  She said that Jon was in her class for the third year in a row.  I then asked what the good news was - she said she made a new friend!  Yeah!  She said she was the girl that had no backpack and no parents.  Oh her.  I remember her.  She also had a wife beater tank top on and basketball shorts.  Leave it to Payton to find the misfit and make her their friend.  I think she loves to take those kids under her wing.

Eleanor started the next day and she was so excited.  She fell in love with her teacher upon first meeting her and was hooked.  I think her teacher feels the same way.

Her teacher has left a special note saying how special Eleanor is and how she has helped her this first week.  She has been a good example to the other kids about listening and following directions and her teacher told her as long as Eleanor is behind her, she knows no kids will get lost.  That made Eleanor's whole week.

Here is to a good school year!  I get so worried, but I just have to trust that they will find good friends and enjoy school.
****By the time I blog this, we are into week three.  Payton is doing good, she said that 2nd grade is HARD.  But she seems to enjoy it.  She doesn't seem as happy and excited like she was last year, but she had a good group of friends and loved her teachers last year, so this year sounds a bit different.
Eleanor has had a rough week.  Monday she said she cried at the playground because she missed me.  Tuesday was the same.  Today I dropped her off and she had tears in her eyes again.  She says she tries so hard not to cry, but then she thinks of me, and they just come.  I am trying to come up with something to make this easier for her.  I drew a heart on her hand and my hand today and told her we are connected and each time she misses me to touch the heart.  She said she wants to get a locket with a picture of me in it.  We will see what we can come up with.
