It has been hot and dry here the last few years, so fireworks were cancelled or not as good. But this year, we have had a ton of rain, so everyone was excited and lots of places are doing fireworks. The girls were VERY excited. Tuesday night we took them to Kaputa, SD. It is a tiny small town over by the airport. They did hamburgers and hot dogs and then fireworks at night. It ended up being so nice because there was only about 20 people there, so no crowds, but good fireworks.
This is the only store there. Really, it is the only thing in the town besides a few farms.
On the actual 4th of July, we had 4 families come over. It was a quite a kid fest. Our four kids, plus another 10 kids. And 3 of us are pregnant. Can you tell we met at church? Ha ha. It was a blast. The kids ran around and played for hours. The weather was perfect. We didn't dare try to drive some where that night to see fireworks, so we sat out in the front lawn and tried to see them around us. We saw a few and we let the kids do sparklers. We were not supposed to do any on base, but we did them fast and then hid the evidence. Our last guest left at 11pm and we were exhausted. Today will be a day for naps for sure.
Eleanor was nervous that her friends were going to make fun of her at the party because of her eye. So what did we do? Went to the dollar store and bough masks for all the kids to wear. It worked. No one mentioned her face or what happened to her.
