Russ and the kids visit

Ahhh, I am so mad that I let my blog slide these last few weeks.  We were busy, sick, had company, etc. but I still need to update it more often.  My memory isn't as good in my old age, so now I hardly remember anything that happened in the last few weeks.

Russ came to visit.  Krystle had to work and needed some time to study for her CPA exam, so Russ brought the kids for a few days.  It was so nice to have him and the kids come.  When Krystle is around, I hate to say, it causes so much friction and awkwardness and it seems everyone is irritated with someone.  But this visit went really good and the kids had a blast.  That really is what it is all about.  It is not about anything but that.

We squeezed all six of them in the car, believe it or not.  Then, Russ, Eric and I squeezed into the front row.  It worked since Eric's suburban has a bench seat in the front.  They thought it was hilarious.
This was the happy picture at Dairy Queen before I ran us off the road in the snow.  On our way home, I hit some ice, and we slid off the road, across the other side, into a ditch.  It was zero degrees out and horribly windy.  The kids were a little nervous, but thankfully, I wasn't alone and had two brawny guys with me.  They almost got frostbite trying to get us out of the snow, but finally a plow came by and hauled us out.  I have never had that happen to me before, and I hope that was my only time.  It made me sick to my stomach the rest of the night on the "what ifs".
Since it was a few days before Easter, I set up an Easter egg hunt for them.  They found the 40 eggs in about 1 minute.  But it was fun to see them all running around the house.

Anytime we can celebrate a birthday with family, we do it.  Since Carley's birthday was a week away, and Conner's was a few weeks after that, I decided to do a little celebration.  We got them both a few little presents, and made a cake - half Cars and half Dora.  They loved it!!!  Those two got along so well.  You would think they would fight, but they were the best of friends.

By the end of the trip, all six kids were sick.  So, Russ headed home on Wednesday.  And we have been sick since!  I am ready for it to be over with!!!
